About Muninn & Make
In Norse mythology, Odin sends two ravens out across the world each dawn. One is Huginn — Thought. The other is Muninn — Memory. Every evening they return to whisper what they've seen. Odin feared, above all else, that Muninn might not come back.
We named our workshop after the raven of memory, because that's what we do: we go looking for the things history almost forgot, and we bring them back.
Who we are
Muninn & Make is a small creative studio run by two people with complementary obsessions.
Muse is a public historian, author, and former curator with a particular passion for the women and girls history has overlooked, the objects that carry their stories, and the museums that preserve them. She writes the history blog The BackStory and has spent her career finding the people who should have been in the textbooks.
Izzy is a gamer, dungeon master, painter and maker with a gift for transforming the ordinary into something you want to live with. His original spray-painted works — planets, cosmos, bold forms — share shelf space with designs sourced from the vast, extraordinary wealth of public domain art held in museum collections around the world.
Together, we make things that carry history lightly — wearable, usable, giftable, and worth knowing the story behind.
Making
Art & Decor
Our collection draws from two wells. The first is original: hand-painted canvases and designs made in our studio. The second is archival: artwork, patterns, and imagery from museum collections that have entered the public domain, carefully curated and applied to objects you'll actually use. Everything we make comes with its backstory. Because that's the whole point.
Writing
The BackStory
Muse writes regularly about women's history, material culture, and the artifacts that tell us who we really were. You can read The BackStory on Medium.
